PRESENTS

22 APRIL - 15 MAY 2021

Winner of the Tony "Triple Crown"for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is an American musical in two acts, based on the book written by Jeff Whitty.

It is a laugh-out-loud coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. Live actors and puppets manipulated by unconcealed puppeteers join forces in song and dance to tell the timeless story of fresh-faced college graduate, Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. Despite its decidedly adult content (dealing with themes such as racism, pornography, homosexuality and schadenfreude), much of the show's ironic humour arises from its parody of Sesame Street, a metaphor of the contrasts between childhood and adulthood, and between the children's TV world and the real world.

The world premiere of AVENUE Q was presented by the Vineyard Theatre and The New Group, New York City, February 2003. AVENUE Q premiered on Broadway at the Golden Theater on July 31, 2003, produced by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman, Jeffrey Seller, Vineyard Theatre and The New Group.
